Jane Haughton

Music Director

Jane trained at Trinity College of Music, London. She lived and worked in Italy in her 20s and returned to the UK enjoying a solo career and later joining the  full time chorus at the Royal Opera House Company, Covent Garden.

 

Jane has worked for nearly 20 years as a professional musician including running community choirs as well as opera and music projects in care homes, prisons, schools. She runs singing courses in Italy  and has been involved with the Cuckoo choir for eight years. Her passion is to encourage everyone (aged 6- 86 ) to develop their voice and find joy through their singing and music-making together.

Our Pianist

Rosemary studied the piano and viola at the Trinity College of Music in London followed by a Teacher Training year at the London Institute. She then taught at Ardingly College for many years.

Since retirement Rosemary keeps very busy. She plays the viola in several local orchestras and with other Chamber music groups. As well as accompanying the Cuckoo Choir she plays for the Ardingly Choral Society.

Sarah Cheesmur

Choir Manager  

Following a degree at Sussex University as a mature student Sarah worked to support and find housing options for people experiencing homelessness in Brighton and Hove for 20 years.  She was also involved in the setting up of projects and training courses to help homeless people move forward. In 2013 she founded the Cuckoo Choir and since retirement has volunteered at the Brighton Homeless Night Shelter and with the Choir with No Name - a brilliant Choir for homeless people.
